Secondary Breast Cancer Information
Secondary Breast Cancer TipsHowever it isn’t always an immediate death sentence. People with limited stage small cell cancer can expect to live at least another year, possibly two or more. About 30 percent of the cases are caught before the cancer has spread out of the immediate chest area, and this is referred to as ‘limited stage’ small cell cancer. Those that have a positive attitude are much more likely to tolerate the medications and have a smoother adjustment. As my cousin has been involved with the breast cancer research she has noticed how much the attitude of the person plays into their treatment and recovery. The hope is that if a common denominator is found regarding who responds well and why this can be shared with those that are not doing as well. Secondary Breast Cancer AdviceIf it is found in the limited stage, small cell cancer can be held at bay for a long time using these therapies. Also, surgery may be an option for some people with limited stage cancer, improving their prognosis considerably. Small cell cancers are especially prone to cancer treatments like chemotherapy and radiation therapy. The commonly used cancer statistics include: survival rate (this is the percentage of cancer patients with a certain type of cancer that had spread to a certain extent, who have survived for a certain period of time after they were diagnosed as cancer patients), the five year survival rate (this is the percentage of people who after five years from their initial diagnosis are still alive whether they have no symptoms of cancer, have few symptoms of cancer or are free of cancer completely or having treatment) and Recurrence-free survival rate (this shows how long a person who once had cancer will survive, free of the disease, rather than until death). For instance, if the patient is a male of the age 34, who used to be a heavy smoker, the doctor will take into consideration- the cancer statistics that are available of cancer patients of age group between – perhaps 30- 40, who are males and who were smokers, to base this particular patient’s prognosis. The doctors carefully analyze the cancer statistics, and uses cancer statistics that are of a group of people most similar to the patient – especially regarding the factors that affect the prognosis.
